Monmouth County Collective

Our Purpose

The Monmouth County Collective harnesses the energy, expertise, and lived experience of people who are striving to build community that is joyous, just, and stable for all who live, work, and recreate here, especially for those whose lives are and have been negatively impacted by explicit and implicit marginalization, oppressive policy, and prejudice.

We mobilize people and resources in order to:

  • boost the vibrant and equitable work already underway in this diverse ecosystem;

  • encourage collective action to protect human dignity and dismantle historic and current systemic oppressions; and

  • unite our communities for a heightened sense of belonging, pride, security, and happiness, now and for our future generations.

OUR COMMITMENTS

We promise to stay focused on this work as long as necessary and to engage in long-term thinking, planning, and doing.

We Commit to:

  • engage and integrate the voices of the community across generations, racial identities, geographies, sexualities, genders, abilities, and socioeconomic class to foster mutual understanding and respect;

  • celebrate the intersection of identities across Monmouth County's diversity of cultures, ethnicities, and lived experiences;

  • fight for the fundamental right to dignified access to quality housing, healthcare, education, employment, healthy food, recreation, nature, and the arts; and

  • ensure our work has measurable impact and accountability .

Our eyes are wide open.  There is enormous work to be done.  We know we will stumble, but we will learn and keep going.  This cycle of exploration, experimentation, decision, resistance, growth, and elevation is the bridge between this generation and the next, and the next, in this higher pursuit.
